Corero DDoS Protection Upgrades
Fraction Servers are thrilled to announce the first deployment of the Corero’s new NTD 3400 device on their network. The new NTD devices leverage 400G interfaces to provide network connectivity and provide additional throughput to our customers. The additional bandwidth provided by the latest in Corero’s line of Smartwall DDoS protection devices ensures our DDoS mitigation services can deal with even the largest of DDoS attacks.
Having relied on Corero’s NTD1100 appliances for years to safeguard its infrastructure, our network has now upgraded to the NTD3400 to meet growing demand and strengthen defenses. This upgrade future-proofs the company’s infrastructure, providing greater capacity, robust security, and the ability to scale with a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

How can Fraction Servers protect your services?
In 2024 Fraction Servers has successfully mitigated over 15000 DDoS attacks, with an average attack length of 20 minutes and a total of 2.4 Petabytes of blocked traffic.
With many online DDoS-for-hire botnets being as cheap as £5 per month, and the consequence of an attack having the potential to cause £1000s per minute of loss, it’s important to remain protected against all eventualities.
Our edge and core network is built for scale and headroom to account for volumetric DDoS attacks, as well as the ability to engage our upstream transit
providers for additional scrubbing.
All customer’s services hosted on the Fraction Servers network benefit from “On-Demand” Standard Protection at no additional cost (unless otherwise explicitly stated), subject to a fair-usage policy.
Due to the sampled-nature of the “On-Demand” service, it is possible that some very low packet rate attacks may not trigger a redirection. This scenario is where the “Always-On” services are advantageous for 1:1 traffic sampling. Please see below for further information on the comparion between the On Demand and Always On services.
On Demand Protection
All customers are protected by our On Demand protection as standard which operates as follows:
Normal Operation: Traffic is routed directly from our edge routers to our core network which forms the gateway for your server’s internet connection. Our in house monitoring and flowspec systems constantly monitor for attack traffic.
When Under Attack: Our in house monitoring systems will drop common attack traffic at our edge routers, and all other traffic is routed via one of our “scrubbing centres”. These scrubbing centres provide upto 200Gb/s of protection each filtering out any DDoS traffic and routing any legitimate traffic through to your server.
Once the Attack has Stopped: Our monitoring systems constantly analyse incoming traffic and once the attack has stopped traffic is re-routed directly to your server.
Always On Protection
Customers can opt for Always On DDoS Protection as an additional cost service, with this option traffic is permanently routed through one of our scrubbing centres providing the lowest possible mitigation response time for those customer’s that are highly vulnerable to attacks.
